MATT ROWE
Founding Member & Bassist of MIX MOB & Former Bassist of OPM
Matt Rowe was a founding member and original bassist of MIX MOB, which he co-founded in 1996 with lead vocalist Ryan Weaver. Together, they laid the foundation for the Southern California band’s signature sound, blending punk rock, reggae, hip-hop, and alternative rock.
From the band’s earliest days rehearsing and recording in a small storage unit to its emergence in the Southern California music scene, Matt played an important role in establishing MIX MOB’s musical foundation. His bass playing helped define the band’s early sound, including its 2002 debut album, So Cal Drunks, released through Kevin Zinger’s Suburban Noize Records.
Following his time with MIX MOB, Matt became the bassist for OPM, the Southern California alternative rock and hip-hop band best known for its hit single “Heaven Is a Halfpipe.” During his approximately nine years with OPM, from 2005 to 2014, he contributed to the band’s evolving sound and recordings.
Matt Rowe’s musical journey connects two distinctive bands from Southern California’s alternative music scene. His contributions as a founding member remain an important part of MIX MOB’s history.
