RYAN WEAVER

Founder | Lead Vocalist | Songwriter of MIX MOB

For MIX MOB founder and lead vocalist Ryan Weaver, music has always been about breaking boundaries, blending genres, and creating something original.

Growing up immersed in the diverse sounds of Southern California, Ryan developed a musical identity influenced by punk rock, reggae, alternative rock, and hip-hop. His passion for music was never about following trends or fitting into one particular genre. It was about creating something authentic, bringing different sounds together, and connecting with people through music.

In 1996, Ryan co-founded the band originally known as FlipSide alongside bassist Matt Rowe. When the band relocated to San Diego in 1998, Ryan came up with the name MIX MOB, a reflection of the different musical styles that inspired him and the loyal community of friends and fans who surrounded the band.

For Ryan, the “MIX” represented the music, while the “MOB” represented the people. That philosophy continues to define the band today.

Musical Influences & Inspiration

Ryan’s musical influences span a wide range of artists, including:

  • Sublime
  • 2Pac
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • Cypress Hill
  • Pennywise
  • 311
  • Bad Religion
  • Bob Marley
  • Steel Pulse
  • Rancid
  • Beastie Boys
  • Run-DMC
  • Blink-182
  • Slightly Stoopid
  • Common Rider
  • Transplants
  • Dial-7

From the rebellious energy of punk rock and the laid-back rhythms of reggae to the storytelling and lyrical delivery of hip-hop, each influence helped shape Ryan’s approach to songwriting and performing.

Rather than limiting himself to one musical style, Ryan embraced the freedom to experiment, combining infectious melodies, driving guitars, reggae grooves, and rhythmic vocals. That creative approach became the foundation of MIX MOB’s signature Southern California sound.

A New Chapter for MIX MOB

After the band’s original run ended in 2004, Ryan’s connection to music and the MIX MOB family never disappeared.

In 2025, Ryan began introducing a new chapter of MIX MOB, returning to the studio and releasing new music with longtime producer Lewis Richards at 17th Street Recording. Collaborating with vocalist Dread Kennedy and other talented musicians, Ryan continues to bring fresh energy and creativity to the band’s evolving sound.

With songs including “Brighter Days,” “One More,” “Rock Star,” and the October 2026 release of “Let’s Cruise,” Ryan remains committed to creating music that reflects his personality, experiences, and love for the Southern California music scene.

While the sound continues to evolve, the heart of MIX MOB remains the same.

For Ryan, music has never been measured solely by record sales, streaming numbers, or recognition. It’s about the joy of creating something meaningful and knowing that somewhere, someone is listening.

In Ryan’s Own Words

“Music has always been a part of who I am, and MIX MOB will always be a part of my heart. As long as there are people who want to listen, I’ll keep writing, creating, and sharing music.

Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or just discovered us yesterday, I want you to know how much that means to me. I never take your support or your loyalty for granted.

Life changes, years go by, and the music evolves, but the love I have for what we started back in 1996 has never faded.

I’m incredibly grateful for every person who has been part of this journey. You’ve given me more than you’ll ever know.

MIX MOB was never just about the music. It’s about the people who became family along the way.

And as long as you’re still listening, I’ll never stop making music for you.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for keeping the MOB alive.”

The Music Continues

Nearly three decades after MIX MOB began, Ryan’s passion for songwriting, performing, and connecting with fans remains as strong as ever.

For him, MIX MOB isn’t simply a chapter from the past. It’s an ongoing story built on music, friendship, loyalty, and gratitude.

And as long as there’s someone out there who wants to hear another song, Ryan plans to keep writing.

Because once you’re part of the MOB, you’re family.
